Pastor Ken Pollitz

Kenneth Pollitz


The Reverend Kenneth L. Pollitz is presently serving as pastor at New Creation Lutheran Church in Ottawa.

Pastor Ken attended the University of Missouri for two years and Valparaiso University in Indiana for three years on a basketball scholarship, earning a degree in accounting. In the spring of his senior year, he committed his life to Christ and went on to seminary and graduated from the Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus in 1983.

The Chicago area native was ordained in August 1983. He served at Providence Lutheran Church, Holland, near Toledo and later as part-time associate pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Findlay.

After the Northwest Ohio Synod of ELCA decided to open a Lutheran church in Ottawa, Pastor Ken was called to serve as the mission developer in Ottawa.

Pastor Pollitz and his wife Linda and four children came to Ottawa in August 1991. Their children included a second grade daughter, Stephanie, twin sons in kindergarten, Tim and Eric, and a 2½ year old son, Joel. The Pollitz Family moved into a home at 940 Parklane Place, where they presently reside.

Laura grew up in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Ottawa in 1999. She married Mark Kuhlman in 2000 and together they have 5 daughters, 12 grandchildren, and their dog Rudy.

As a new church employee, she is still learning the ropes.  She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, walking, golfing, gardening, and just spending time with her family and friends.

Terri Samuelson, Pianist

Terri Samuelson


Terri grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio.  She attended Bowling Green University from 1986-1991, where she received her undergraduate degree in Speech and Language Pathology and her Masters of Audiology degree.

Terri married her husband, John in 1991.  Together they have 3 children, Matthew, Kathryn, and Ann.  They also are the owners of the Defiance Hearing Aid Center.

Since 1992, Terri has been playing the keyboard at New Creation Lutheran Church.  She has always enjoyed playing for our services, as well as walking, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her children, whether that is watching their sporting events or just sitting down for a good talk.

Scott and Laura Hershberger, Finance & Learning Ministry

Laura married her husband, Scott in 1988. They have three children: Danielle, Adam and Grant.

She teaches silver sneakers classes at Peak Fitness. Her hobbies include biking, walking, exercising, reading books, and traveling.

MaKenzie Everett is a member of New Creation Lutheran Church and recently began working in the nursery.  She is a 2012 graduate from Ottawa-Glandorf High School, and is currently attending Ohio State University’s Lima Campus majoring in Early Childhood Education.  She loves being around children and caring for them.
