Officially, New Creation was chartered May 9, 1993, with 99 covenant members. Pastor Ken Pollitz, this mission developing pastor, continues to serve the congregation. The Pollitz family arrived in Ottawa in July of 1991, the congregation’s first worship happened in April of 1992 in the Ottawa-Glandorf High School auditorium, and the formalizing of the church happened just over a year later. Extremely instrumental in the startup of New Creation was the Synod’s Mission Partnership Ministry which provided incredible prayerful and financial support during the early years of New Creation’s life. Well over $400,000 was gifted over those years to New Creation until such time as they were self-sustaining as a congregation.

With the assistance of the ELCA’s Mission Builders, construction began for their first unit in 1999 and the church’s first worship at their current location of 8127 E Main Street too pace in January of 2000.   New Creation continues to grow in the making of more disciples, and about three years ago added some additional space to their building which included two new classrooms, a conference room, and much needed storage.

As a way to give back to the community, and all the people, churches and organizations who helped New Creation, we decided to make a donation to 25 local organizations.
